All you need to know about our cruises

  • What is included aboard the cruise?

    All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and self-service café) unlimited drinks at the bar (including Chilean wines and cocktails) at set times, daily guided expeditions, informative presentations, and onboard activities.

  • What is the official language on board?

    The official languages on board are Spanish and English, but it is also possible to find guides who speak French, German, Italian or Portuguese.

  • What kind of presentations are given on the cruise?

    During the voyage, we provide information on topics that complement the travel experience. Including, for example:

    • – Geography and navigation route.
    • – Flora.
    • – Birds of Patagonia.
    • – Beagle Channel.
    • – Strait of Magellan.
    • – Glaciology.
    • – Marine Mammals.

  • Is there internet available on board?

    We do not offer internet service on board. This journey is designed to help you disconnect from the digital world and fully enjoy the natural surroundings and the onboard experience.

  • Can I smoke on board?

    Smoking is only allowed on the outside decks of the ship, since, according to Chilean law No. 20.105, smoking is prohibited in any enclosed space inside the cruise ship and during the expeditions.

  • Are pets allowed on the cruise?

    Unfortunately, pets are not allowed on board.

  • What is the dress code?

    The dress code on-board is casual so we suggest dressing comfortably as well as bringing enough changes of clothes since we offer no laundry service.

  • Are there any additional costs?

    Yes, port taxes are not included in the fare, and have to be paid additionally per passenger.

    These taxes correspond to government port fees, taxes, and National Park fees and may change at the discretion of the port authorities.

    For the 2025-2026 season, they are as follows:

    • – Punta Arenas – Ushuaia route: US$ 135 per passenger.
    • – Ushuaia – Punta Arenas route: US$ 135 per passenger.
    • – Punta Arenas – Ushuaia – Punta Arenas route: US$ 150 per passenger.
    • – Ushuaia – Punta Arenas – Ushuaia route: US$ 150 per passenger.
  • Should I tip on board?

    Each passenger is free to decide how much to tip. Those who wish to participate must take the gratuity at the ship’s reception desk on the last day of the voyage. We suggest US$ 25 per person, per day, which will be distributed equally among the crew.

  • Is there a shop on board?

    Yes, you will find sportswear, souvenirs, gifts and items for personal use.

  • How are payments made on board?

    Voluntary gratuities (suggested US$ 25 per passenger, per night) and personal expenses in the onboard store, such as souvenirs, sportswear, or other items, may be paid with Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Diners, US dollars, Euros or Chilean pesos.

  • Is there any insurance?

    The Company has civil liability insurance to respond to losses or damages that passengers and/or their property may experience onboard the ship. This liability is governed by the conditions of the ticket contract and the relevant rules of Book Three of the Chilean Commercial Code. If the passenger wishes to have additional coverage for health risks, death, travel assistance, or other events or contingencies that he/she and/or his/her luggage may experience during the trip, he/she must purchase travel assistance insurance with the insurance company of his/her choice.

  • Is there a first aid service?

    We have staff prepared to provide first aid care to passengers on board if required.

  • Will my cabin have a view?

    Yes, all of our cabins are equipped with large windows allowing you to enjoy the scenery comfortably from your space.

  • Are there elevators?

    Our ships do not have elevators, so passengers must use the stairs to move between the different levels of the ship (5 in total). These stairs are needed to access cabins, lounges, dining rooms, and decks.

  • Is there a laundry service on board?

    Our ships do not offer laundry service so we recommend packing wisely. Keep in mind some of your clothes might get wet during the excursions.

  • Do cabins have a safe deposit box?

    Yes, each cabin has a safe deposit box to store items.

  • Do cabins have a hair dryer?

    All cabins have a hairdryer.

  • What type of voltage is used on the ship?

    Our cabins are equipped with 220-volt outlets. In the bathrooms, the outlets are 110 volts.

  • What will I see on my Patagonia Cruise?

    – The legendary Strait of Magellan and the Beagle Channel.
    – Glaciers and fjords of the Darwin Range.
    – Flora and fauna of great beauty: sub-Antarctic forests, sea lions, southern dolphins, albatrosses, and cormorants, among a great diversity of seabirds.
    – One of the largest Magellanic penguin colonies in the Southern Hemisphere.
    – The mythical Cape Horn.

  • What are the possible landings?

    Depending on weather conditions, the possible landings per route are:
    On the Fjords of Tierra del Fuego Itinerary:

    On the Patagonian Explorer Itinerary:

  • Is the Cape Horn excursion always included when taking this cruise through Patagonia?

    Cape Horn is part of the itinerary, but landing at this iconic location depends on weather conditions. Our team always prioritizes passenger safety. For reference, our historical percentage of possible landings is 80%.

  • Can I see penguins during the whole Australis Season?

    It’s not possible. Penguins are migratory birds and are usually only found in the Patagonia region between the months of October to March,

  • What is the weather like?

    In the cruise months, the temperature fluctuates between 5 and 15 degrees Celsius (equivalent to 41 and 59 degrees Fahrenheit). It is important to note that weather conditions are very unpredictable and could change constantly during the day.

  • Can I swim in the sea during landings, or jump into the water from the ship?

    No! For the safety of our passengers and the environment, no swimming in the sea is allowed at any time during the voyage.
